I know thats dangerous.. 7pm it was 103 gave her motrin.. 11pm it was 103.5 gave her tylenol.. Now at 11:45 it is 102.4 Im going to keep a close eye on her tonight and get her to Dr.s in morning.. I think she may have an earache.. I noticed this evening her pulling on her ears... Shes probably getting some teeth in.. cant tell yet but Thats normally only time mykids got earaches. If it gets much higher soon she will be going in a cool bath if that does not break fever then we may take a visit tonight.. Im sure she will be okay though! off to get some rest now!

hey watch her close and if need ER it asap,, hope you get your rest, let me know OK
Poor girl and poor mommy! My DS2 had ear tubes put in a few months ago because of persistent and recurrent ear infections. Not fun at all! Hope the fever breaks soon.
Awwww, poor little thing! That happens to Chandler when he gets ear infections! Keep an eye on her (I know you will) and keep us posted! I hope she feels better soon and that you can get a little sleep tonight!
Poor thing
Hope she is going to be okay..
Keep a good eye on her!
To calm your worries, here is a good article which explains why our bodies get fevers, and why they are actually a GOOD thing:Â http://www.parents.com/baby/health/fever/fever-benefits/
If it's that high while she's ON meds, it might be a good idea to take her in tonight. High temps can cause seizures, and extreme, fast dehydration in babies.
Thanks for your advice.. she actually was not on any meds.. I had just given her some tylenol and the motrin 1 time each and fever came down for a while and went back up.. I kept a close eye on her all night.. after the dose of motrin at 11 her fever went down and stayed down! If I cant get it down with the meds or a cool bath then I would take her in.. cool bath always works if meds arent.. or if its to high I wont wait for meds to kick in.. the cool bath sucks but has always brokje the real high fevers like imediatly.. I updated also ;) Take care.. how are your cuties doing
I agree with Heather T. One of my friends delayed taking her teenage daughter in and the girl had seizures. You really don't want to risk it.
Hope she feels better soon. Little people can spike temps so quickly but you do have to watch out for seizures.
I feel so bad about her, poor baby! may be teething.take care
I hope she gets to feeling better soon.
Hope her fever is down by now
Hope she is feeling better and maybe slept it off.
How old is she? My son was doing the same thing last week. He would run temps as high as 104.1 He was cutting his eye teeth and he had some sort of viral throat infection. I don't give meds for temps under 102 unless my son is in pain. According to my sons dr you get the febrile seizures (seizure from fever) when your temp starts to spike not just due to high temp (though certainly if the temp hits very high (105ish) you can have a seizure. My mom is a peds nurse and told me kids who have seizures from fevers can have them with a temp as low as 100. So if your child has ran fevers before and hasn't had a seizure i wouldn't worry. And i say this as a mother who's son did have a seizure at 2 months old (not from a fever though). My sons dr said to not even worry about going to the er unless the temp hits 104 and wont come down with meds. As long as it continues to come down with meds or other methods then i wouldn't worry so much:) Just give her as much to drink as possible, my son loves pedialyte popsicles lol. I hope she is feeling better. Oh and most drs will tell you that with teething you wont get a fever over 100 or 101 but I know that's not true because every time my son is cutting teeth he runs 101-103.
Hello.. Kairi just turned 1. I thought it was teething too.. but since there was no runny nose and ears looked good she said it was strep since the tonsils were so red.. Makes since though.. She did say normally fevers arent that high when cutting teeth which I did not know either. My younger son Blake always had high fever but always ended up with ear infection when he would get teeth.. That was not fun!
How is she doing this morning?
Poor thing. Hope she is feeling better today. Keep us updated on how she is doing.
I was hoping you had posted an update. How is Kairi doing? Please let us know!
Cool bath, cool bath, cool bath. I read that the American Medical Association says that a high fever in a child is from 111-114. I had NO IDEA it could get that high and not kill you. I sure hope that your child is feeling better and the fever has broken, I know how scary that is!
That is so not what the pediatricians I worked with said. Dangerously high, as in causing brain damage, is above 106, according to them. And anything over 102 should have medical attention.
What I meant to say was anything over 102 should seek medical advice. At least, call for advice from a doctor or nurse.
If her fever got that high.. someone should kick me for not catching that any sooner.. Thats scary.. I agree with Julie I had no idea it could get that high.. Although I will not call unless its higher than 104.. The one time I did ER told me to get her in cool bath immediatly.. dont come in until I try that first.. That normally breaks fever immediatly and well it did.. Thanks for your concerns.. I did an update also
