Some years I give him Home Depot gift cards as a hint to get more wood and finally FINISH the tree fort!
I am taking my husband to INYO, his favorite restaurant next Tuesday.
That always must include dessert, and ice cream for the top. No matter what the dessert, he always has to have ice cream on the top of it.
The kids will make him a card. They will make home made cards for the grandfathers too, which will be their gifts (and I know that will make them as happy as any fathers day gift they could recieve :) )
Every year I make prints of my daughter's footprints accompanied with this poem.

It's a real tear-jerker!
- My Father is a golfer so we like to make him a basket filled with the little golf things he has to replace every year...PRACTICE BALLS,PUTTING CUP, BALLS, TEE,A NICE WATER BOTTLE & A GC FOR A LOCAL DRIVING RANG OR GOLF COURSE.
Now that my son is a little older, we will be learning more about the meaning behind Father's Day and why we should respect Daddy all year long.
As far as gifts we only participate in the gift for the patriach of the family - a good man and good father - to let him know he's appreciated by all of us.
Dad looks forward to getting new golf balls (it's become a custom) and the whole family gets together for dinner, everyone pitches in for something that Dad really wants and can use.
In the past we all pitched in for a
George Foreman Grill,
tools,
new golf clubs,
things that he personally wants, which would be too expensive for him or just one person to buy.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! This article should be titled "Expensive and Cool Gifts for Father's Day."
I believe this is a conspiracy between the SisterHood and the KidHood. It has been going on for generations and it has to stop or I am suggesting congress have committee hearings.
I will now pull my tongue out of my cheek.
For my Stepdad, my sisters and I are chipping in to buy him "Write To The Bank 'How to Turn Your Writing... Into Dollars!'" by Dan Miller. He's working on a novel right now, so we see it as an investment for im on how to get published.
As for hubby - well, money's real tight, so I'm taking the kids to the drugstore while he's at school and having them buy him these moisturizing bar soaps for men (he loves bar soap but has been out for a while). Then we'll walk to the grocery store, buy what we need to make no-bake cookies, and make them on Friday. We'll box them up and hide them, and take it out on Father's Day.
