According to numerous reports online, Laurence Sunderland (father of Abby Sunderland) has signed a contract for a reality television series "Adventures in Sunderland" based on his seven "daredevil" kids. By the way, daredevil number eight is on the way. Mr. Sunderland has admitted that he is broke and had been "shopping around" for a reality show contract.
This begs the question, was it Abby's idea to sail around the world during the dangerous stormy season, or was Dad also shopping for publicity? Of course, Mr. Sunderland couldn't script the storm or the rescue, but he did put Abby out there (and have her blog about every minute of the journey).Â
Honestly, I don't know why a parent would want to put his child(ren) on a television series given how badly that usually turns out (ask Jon Gosselin). In fact, I'm not sure which is more dangerous, sending you 16 year-old to sail solo around the world during storm season or putting you family on a reality television series. What do you think?
