For a grandparent, there is a unique kind of grief, associated with the death of a grandchild.  Grandparents cry twice.

thank you for sharing this article I am going to be a first time Grandparent in May and the thought of SIDS scared me enough with my own, and will be just as worried about my Grand duaghter when she arrives

Congratulations! being a grandparent is the best thing on earth. SIDS is a horrible thing, no doubt, you never get over it, you just learn to cope. However, statistics do say that SIDS normally hits male babies, under 6 months of age and with a high % of them during the winter months.
