Locks of Love: I Donated 13 Inches of Hair

I just donated 13 inches of hair to Locks of Love.  I've had long hair for as long as I can remember.  However, every couple of years I get a new cut and donate my hair to those who need it more than I do.  My husband LOVES long hair, so I try to keep him happy as well.  But, there are just some things that have to be done...

I absolutely LOVE my new look!  I got a new cut, new style and some highlights for a new color!  I've had so many people that have known me for years take double takes!  LOL!

Stephy is begging to have her hair cut and donated as well.  Daddy is having a difficult time saying yes to her request.  I think she would look adorable with a short cut.  If it were only up to me, she would have had a short haircut a long time ago!  So, we shall see what happens.  I'll be sure to keep your posted!

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

I love the new look! Love what you did as well. I always said I was going to do it but I after mine gets a certain length headaches start real bad. Is odd when I was younger I had hair down past my butt. Back then thouh they didn't have Locks of Love

That make-over really did wonders for you! You look great.
I love the cut- it looks great on you, and really frames your face well.

I've never donated, but I keep my hair died pretty much all the time, which is a no-no for donating.

That, and I usually can't wait that long in between cuts. I get it cut short about once a year, let it grow out, then chop it off again.

How nice. I've never donated my hair, but now that I haven't colored my hair in a long time I'm thinking about it. I like the new cut.

What a wonderful thing you did! The new style looks great and comfortable, especially for the summer months. My hair is always short. I had long hair many, many years ago and hated it. Since that first real good haircut, I never let it grow like that again.

I donated once a few years ago. I don't think I will have that much cut off again. I couldn't stand having my hair that short. I also had 13" cut off.

I love your new look too. You did a very nice thing. Your hair waved in the back like mine does. I made a promise to someone about 5 or 6 years ago that I wouldn't cute. Now I wish I hadn't made that promise.

I've donated my hair 3 times....this last time was back last Sept....and yes, my hubby said my hair was too short then. LOL. It's grown out now. I"m just not sure I'll do it again, as I"m getting to old for the really long hair.

My sister has done this several times. Since I got mine cut several years ago, I haven't let it get long enough to have the required inches.
