Well, still not finished. Never believed it would take this long, but I guess nearly a month isn't long considering that I started purchasing things for this makeover in Oct 2009!
I still haven't finished the painting, but on what walls I have painted I hung the clock and 1 plaque that says "Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me." It has the brown, blue, gold, and creams that ar in the room. The clock is glass and robin's egg blue with bronze hands and #'s. It has a bronze butterfly. Again, perfect match.
Had to change the sheet on the bed due to Elijah deciding he wanted to eat supper in my bed tonight. He had baked potato and ketchup all over it. Next time he wants to pretend we are having a picnic we are going to use less messy foods LOL. But back to the bed. When I changed the sheet (chocolate), I decided to change the flat sheet to the blue and the pillow cases blue.Since I did that much, I decided to go ahead and put the new bedding set on. See how one thing leads to another - and I wind up skipping some more important steps in the process?? LOL '
Anyway, I can't believe how wonderful things look! Grabbed the painting that I got in Feb 10 out to see how it looks - perfect match. Only problem - glass is cracked on both sides at the bottom. A little upset about that, but I think we can deal with it. I put it back up so Elijah wouldn't get cut.
Then mom asked me if I remembered the rug she bought me for Mother's Day last year. I vaguely did, knew it was blue and brown, but that was it. Again perfect match. I had seen it at Kohl's and wanted it. She went back and got it the next day for me.
Even though things are not decluttered, the curtains are not up, and 2 and half walls need to be glazed, I am absolutely amazed at what this is turning out to be. I am finally excited about finishing the painting - guess with the crohn's flare and having to take pain meds I got a little depressed with not seeing progress and just didn't have the energy to tackle it again. I might not get to it tomorrow as I have a dr's appt and we have to take care of things with the investment property, but I know that it is just a few more days and everything will be complete.
Though I do have 1 other project I would love to do. I want to make another headboard. Mine is wood and has some damage. I was rough as a teen on things LOL. I want to at least cover over this headboard with plywood and make a tufted plush headboard. I want like a cream microfiber material. This would be the perfect accent to the darker tones in the room and would pull out all the cream accents (like candlesticks and vases, even the floral painting ahove the bed).
Lastly, I can't leave out Elijah. Elijah is ohhhhing and awwwhhhh'ng. He saw HGTV Design Star and also Home by Novogratz and their reveal. He is doing that to my parents showing them what we did tonight. He helped put the bedding on so he felt like a designer. He told told grandma and Papa to come to my room, but he shut the door and told them that they had to close their eyes. He opened the door and said "Welcome to Momma's room!" They clapped and he bowed. Then he wanted to do it again. This time he told them to say "Horray, Beautiful. It is so awesome!" Of course they did and he beamed from ear to ear and bowed again. It was just too funny!
Pictures will be coming soon - at least when I get it painted, curtains up, and the wall art up. Headboard may wait till Christmas
