What do you think of the latest trend to ban children under six? I have never been bothered by a baby. They amuse me and bring a smile to my face. What is the matter with the world? Whoever doesn't like babies should be banned from restaurants and planes.
Recently, on an eight hour flight, a baby was crying, so his mother let him crawl around the plane. I loved it! I think we should politicians from restaurants and planes before we ban any other segment of the population.

in confined spaces like a plane you do what you have to...and I wouldn't mind a child moving around like that...if it keeps them happy...
I know that there are times when the unpredictable happens with kids...but in general if you plan things well I don't think bringing kids along should cause any disruptions to anyone else and there should be no need to ban them...
I do think there has been a trend of less disciplined children though...and that does rub me the wrong way...
It's later when kids are out to get you, LOL!
money is tight for us right now, so eating out is a very special treat for us.....we want to go, relax, and have a nice meal, right?
however, the meal is usually ruined by other people's obnoxious children....the last time we went out, there was a couple with 3 kids next to us....the 3 kids (all under age 6, i am sure) fought, fussed, screamed, threw things, ran around the restaurant, etc....one of them pushed her way UNDER OUR TABLE, threw a fit, slapped my leg, sat on my sore foot....i was NOT amused....and the parents nothing....it made our meal memorable, and miserable....we asked for doggie bags for the meal, left, and ate it at home!!
when my daughter and grandson were little, we made it clear that they should behave in public, if they wanted to go somewhere with us, and THEY DID......
kids SHOULD be banished from restaurants, since the parents no longer take any sort of responsibility for them...
When I see kids running around a store yelling, crying, or pulling down displays, my first thought is: where are the parents?
Why ban kids? How about we ban parents that do nothing to control their kids?
And of course, Wendy brings up an excellent point. There are just some parents out there that let their kids run around like wild dogs. Most people on a plane will gladly let a baby crawl around on a plane if that means the baby stops crying. But letting a small child run around like some Lord of the Flies remake is simply unacceptable. It's poor parents that allow their children to do such things that make many people want "no children" places.
I just did what my parents did, told my toddlers that if they misbehaved, or didn't listen to what I said in the restaurant, we would leave.
Just go, without a backward glance.
And, that always seemed to do the trick.
Or else, take them to a quiet spot, talk to them to let them know their behavior is unacceptable, and let them quiet down before taking them back out to the crowded place.
