I heard a strange noise coming from my storm shelter. It was a shrieking sound and then a rustling noise. I figured it was some creature. I was scared to look inside for fear it was rats. I have never had a rat, but certainly the sounds were being made by some moving creature.
To make a terribly frightening story short, it was my grandchildren who unbeknownst to me had come to pay me a surprise visit. It is not the first time they have played a trick on me, but I will make sure it is the last.

Have to teach them to be careful though-- I read a news story once of a soldier coming home from Iraq and hiding in the house to surprise his parents when they got up in the morning, well his parents heard noises and thought they had an intruder and the father came down the stairs and shot the "intruder!"
Thankfully he didn't die, but he was injured.
