It is tonight. Gather is not cooperating with me when it comes to posting. I have a huge Today on Gather post that needs posted and Gather is acting crazy. GRRRR
See you in about a half an hour.
I would love to see you at one of the live chats and with that new Grand-baby, you will be needing children's books soon. :)
You just relax and have a good time. There will be plenty of people here to chat with. :) Have fun.
I was going to announce your publishers discount in the "Did You Know?" questions that I always ask before the chats.
Did you get my email?
My question: How did you go about having your first book published and how do you advertise its publishing to the maximum benefit?
I hope you will be able to attend the live chat so you can get all your questions answered. It will be a great chat.
I bet you have lots of questions for Mary. See you in about 25 minutes. Get those questions ready!
You are just full of surprises! Did you get any of the writings for children published?
Hope to see you in about 23 minutes. Get those questions ready.
I'll scan the other comments and see if I have a question that hasn't already been asked.
Rudolph, a child's love story is the one I was interested in as well. I can't wait to hear more about it.
Mary,
I think all children feel unaccepted at some point, they just don't all show it on the outside. They cry inside.
I am sorry you will not be able to make the live chat. Do you have any questions for Mary?
Writing for children should bring out a lot of parents of small children. Everyone reads to their kids. Or at least we always did when our kids were small.
See you in about 20 minutes.
I am proud of Her . She has accomplished so much.
It is always great to see the authors on Gather as they accomplish their goals in writing. Mary has done well for herself and her books will help a lot of kids.
Yep, same time as last night. All the author chats start at the same time so you are good to go. Starting in about 15 minutes or so.
Just in case I miss the chat I'd like to get an important question into the que:
My oldest grandchildren are just over two years old. They LOVE books!
Can you please tell me if any of your books are appropriate for their age group?
Thanks - TerryAnn
I've always admired your writing talent:)
Awww, thank you, Rose. I appreciate the kind words. I'll hope you'll be able to find some time to drop by but will understand if you can't.
There was a live chat with Mary a while back and she shares a lot of personal information in that chat. You may want to check it out.
Transcript Of Live Chat With Author Mary Russel (Marge H.)
Live chat with Marge Russel in 34 minutes.
Did You Know?
Mary's books are on sale just in time for Christmas shopping. They are on sale for $9.95 but you have to purchase them through her publisher. Click Here to buy them before they go off sale.
Do NOT buy them at Amazon. They are much higher there.
Live chat with Marge (Mary) Russel will begin in 5 minutes.
I can see you writing for kids. Did you read that Mary grew up in foster homes.
You kids could add some imput in the children's books as well. They know what the kids feel like when a parent has cancer.
Yes Connie I did see that
I agree Renee, and I hope that he will pursue it...and I am certainly willing to help where/as I can...
I would like to thank each of you for attending this chat tonight. Just get comfortable and have fun chatting. This chat will last for one hour and it goes by rapidly.
Welcome to the live chat with author Marge (Mary) Russel!
Thank You for joining us.
Mary is here to answer your questions.
Welcome Mary!
Remember to keep refreshing the page to see all the latest comments.
I've wanted to ask Mary if she can share something of her experience with Publish America. I hear mixed reviews about this company.
It is good to see you. The gang is all here and started before party time. LOL
Glad you were able to make it tonight.
However, I knew this before I signed up with them. They work out alright for me because I was just wanted to get my first few books published. I'm hoping, with my next book, that I have established enough of a following to interest a publisher who is willing and able to work with me more on promotion without charging me for it.
It is so good to see you. Get those questions ready. Mary is already here.
Often she volunteers to do drawings for organizations just for the publicity. So you may check with organizations to find an artist that just wants to get their name out there.
I know you've done quite a few book signing events. Do you get nervous and how exciting is it?
Glad you were able to make it.
It is good to see you tonight.
Welcome. It is good to see you. You should go check out the last live chat with Mary. She talks a lot about that subject in that chat. I added the link in the comments above.
I thought of you when when I set the date for this chat. I thought you may be interested. I thought Larry H. might be too. Hope he can make it.
Glad you are here even if it is for just a little while.
It is good to see you again tonight.
How do you like the live chats with authors?
I have been hearing a lot of authors in these chats that are considering writing Sci Fi
Would you like to write Sci Fi for YA or Adults?
I love YA Sci Fi! I enjoy them much more than the adult Sci Fi
Welcome! I am so glad you were able to make it tonight.
I thought you would have an interest in an author who writes children's books.
There are also programs that goes through the school system where children can write in contests. The winners get their book published. Check with your local school to see if they participate in the program.
They have a program for teachers as well. My SIL got hers published that way
Can you tell us how you came up with the idea for it?
Now well it is selling?
What ages is it written for?
I would love to get it for my Grandkids for Christmas.
What can I say, I am a frugal shopper. LOL
I was hoping it would help some of the members on Gather. Sorry it did not help you but Mary may have some advice. This is her specialty
So far so good--no phone calls from son at station...
You said you might like to write romance or sci-fi Marge--d'you have an age group in mind?
Welcome. I did welcome you up a bit but was afraid you would not see it. Glad you are here.
I was just thinking about this last nights. Most of Mary's books are for children and I just loved cuddling up with the kids and reading too them. I can't imagine reading an ebook to them. They loved to turn the pages and point to the photos.
I love my Sony e-reader but I can't imagine reading a childrens book on it.
Have you checked into Smashwords? A lot of authors use it for e-books.
Can you publish using a pen name or does that against your contract as well?
I enjoy YA fantasy and Sci Fi. They are just my speed. LOL
Be careful and good to see you. Have a great night.
Mare~
Welcome! Good to see you and you are not late. We were waiting on you. :)
But, pretty sure Mary's are the kind of books everyone wants - real books. Sorry Mary - if I'm wrong, please correct me.
I have an iphone and I Have all the readers downloaded on it.
I like the length of your stories. I think they are just right for smaller children. They lose interest easily.
Our Grand-kids live a 9 hour drive away. We taped ourselves reading a book to them and they loved it.
Then last year, we did the Halmark books. You read them and record them. When the child turns the page, your voice starts reading that page. It is great
I've always liked your stories, just the right length :)
There are only 12 minutes left in this chat. Make sure to get those questions in so they can be answered.
Mary is still her, if you want to ask questions.
I noticed that our library are starting to use Senior citizens as volunteers to work the library. I think there is a program called "green . .. something that pays the wages.
Would you consider doing a book signing -- childrens reading group in local libraries? The books would sell and the little ones would love it!
There are only 5 minutes left in this chat. I would like to thank each of you for joining this chat tonight and for the wonderful questions.
Thank you Mary for taking the time to answering all the questions. That were thrown at you.
Drum Roll Please!!!!!!!!
Renee (Pres of Baby James Foundation) ~.
Renee, You will need to send Mary your mailing address.
There are always a few members to come to the chats late and even the next day.
Is it possible for you to check back in tomorrow to answer any new questions?
