I want to retire in motor home and travel.

Do any of you have a motor home, or would you consider buying one, so you can travel and see the United States and Canada. I would see Mexico but they have too many problems. I figure you go where the weather is. I am seriously considering it, and this summer we plan on renting one, so we'll see what it's like. I don't camp, but I do travel.

Use to think I wanted one. I have enough to do drivin a van, or my pickup. With a motor home you need find a place to park if you want to stop some where, lots of gas too.

I had planned on getting one when I retired but then my grandsons came to live with me and I lost that idea.

We researched this years and years ago...we decided a nice riding van and inexpensive motel rooms would be much more economical! You have the purchase price, taxes, licenses, insurance, gas and upkeep. You have to pay nearly as much per night for a full hookup as a motel and if you do not tow a car along there are many places you can not or would not want to go in a behemoth!

I have owned and traveled in a motorhome since 1982. We switched to a touring bus about 10 or 11 years ago and still travel in it. Whatever you do, be sure that the unit is completely self contained. This cuts the cost tremendously by allowing you to park and live in the unit without needing external hook ups for several days at a time. Plan on towing a vehicle as well. If you plan to live in the unit it is essential to have other transportation. Some use cycles or scooters very effectively. I have and do both depending on the particular purpose of a trip.

After spending many years on the road vocationally, I think it is the only way to go.

I've only been on a weekend trip with friends in an RV. My boyfriend and I are both more hotel-type people but I think it would be fun to do as a vacation.

We plan on doing this in about 15 yr or so,, the hubby need to work another 10 more yrs,, we want to be able to hit all states,,

That's the last thing I'd do. I hate driving and hate riding with someone even more.
