Back in the olden days.......

1926 - A photo of my Grandparents, Uncle and Mom as a baby.

 

I thought I'd share this little bit from my granddaughter, Lily, aged 6.

Her Mom (my daughter) calls me last night for my birthday.  She was telling me of their weekend of how they had visited a historical museum.  They enjoyed it.  Lily my granddaughter was full of questions.

My daughter saw her staring up a some photos very intrigued.  Lily turns to my daughter and asks....

"Did all people back in the old days have gray skin like that?"

LOL....My daughter explained that back then they had no colored film that that was just black and white film the photos were taken with.  Poor thing...I can just imagine how she thought everyone looked back then....with all that gray skin and all.. LOL  I'm still laughing every time I think of it. :)

What a great post!!!!! OMG, "gray skin," I'd not of thought of that......LOL!!!!! What a wonderful old photo.........aren't they just great, though? I've got a bunch and need to get them into scrapbooks, as I don't want them just laying around; something could happen to them and they are very precious....one of a kind!

I KNOW...hilarious...I had never given it a thought that the little ones might think it was the color of their skin....gray! LOL I've got tons of photos I brought home from my Mom's when she passed. Some I have NO clue as to who they are and neither does anyone in the family. Sad because they are great old photos.

Oh wow......I really, really hope you'll share some of the old photos....hint, hint! I absolutely love looking at them....they are soooo fascinating! You know, I have the same problem.......many old photos, with no names on them, nothing......have even got a couple of the old "tin" pictures.....they are soooo fascinating, but no clue whatsoever, which is truly sad!!!! We all need to make sure that we write on our photos.....a good lesson for us, eh?!!!!!!! Hope you have a great day, also!

I know...and why would she have known about black and white film. All she's ever known in photos are ones that look like life...in color. :) Now she knows. ;)

OMG that is a really awesome photo I had some of my family a long time ago but they were destroyed in a flood along with all of my sons baby pictures

Oh I'm so sorry your photos got ruined. :( I have my photos at the highest point in the house in case of flooding (we've had SO much rain this year) Bill knows and my family always knew that was the one thing (besides our lives) that was to be saved first. :)

*grin* she must of thought they were a pretty plain bunch of folks. ;) Yep I know, and I treasure it. I have a bunch like these...some real great ones. I need to get these scanned and burnt off on dvds for my family. Procrastination is my middle name. ;)
