Americans are fat because of fast food and ease of operation. If we are hungry, just drive a few blocks and find a McDonalds or Burger King. It's so easy and cheap to stop there and feed the kids than to drive home, unload the car, cook and do the dishes, but it's killing us.
When my children were little in the seventies and eighties, we ate out once a month if we were lucky. McDonalds and Burger King were not lunch or supper, but these days, everyone is making their life less complicated and fast food is the answer.
Be honest: how often do you eat out? There are few if any fast food restaurants that serve healthy foods. If you order a salad, the salad dressing is low fat, but the salt content is astronomical. Take your choice.
The answer is to shop and stock your home with easy to fix healthy meals. Cook and freeze baked macaroni, stew, homemade soup. If you knew those foods were waiting for you at home, it would be easier to pass up those unhealthy restaurant.
