Okay Everyone, it's only 8 days until Christmas! Happy Holidays! How has this year treated you all? Are you excited and ready for Christmas? Or ready for it to just be done and over wih?
I know this year has been one of great surprise and stress for me and my family... but we're hanging in there. I am separated from my husband of 6 1/2 years. After 8 years together and 3 tours of duty back to back, the past year has not been kind to us or our marriage. So, ending our marriage especially during a deployment was not an easy decision nor one made lightly, and the timing is simply awful.
That being said, it seems to be the best choice for our family - whether it feels like it at times or not.
My children are growing like weeds and doing pretty well, thank-goodness children are pretty adaptable and handle things well. The best thing about the holidays for me, for the past several years, has been my wonderful children. Watching their excitement, preparing for "Santa Clause" to come visit, even whe you're dead broke and can only give them homemade gifts or dollar store items, is a lot of fun.
All stress aside, I love this time of year. I like winter, I like the holidays... love reading a book cuddle under a blanket, while drinking a cup of hot cocoa or coffee. I love to bake, love to cook and love to give goodies away to neighbors and friends. So, the holiday season gives me lots of excuses to do that.
And, I'm even sewing and crocheting last-minute gifts and little touches for our Christmas! :)
This is a stressful and depressing time of year for many people, but there is a lot of good in it too. I am blessed by some wonderful family and friends and I have 7 awesome little blessings to call my own. Sometimes, in the midst of all the stress, we forget to count our blessings and be thankful for what we do have.
With that final thought today, I leave you all t prepare for the craziness that is Christmas! Have a wonderful weekend everyone! :)
